Design Leadership
As a Design leader, I have supported businesses like Tata Interactive Systems, Nokia, Basware and Dream Broker in strategic decision making by applying design thinking and design methodologies. I have helped start-ups like mfore, Nidan and Nirmana to establish their brand by using design principles and processes successfully. As a design leader I have also managed teams to achieve product and professional goals through design management, design training, team synergy and mentoring. And when it comes to the details of design, having worked hands-on with it for decades, my guidance leads towards global best practices.
Business Design
Modern businesses can be complex. The devil lives in the detail about how the business is run from an idea to sales to growth. Having studied Business Design from Aalto EE university and helping start-ups to setup new business, I outline processes based on business requirements for growth and function. I guide the leadership team with brand development, product’s design process and audits. I have also supported teams by building Sales & Marketing strategy for B2C & B2B customers.
Service Design
Service design is a customer centric approach to design. I have practiced and taught service design to hundreds of design students pursuing their masters in design. I have also taught and used service design methodology for startups like mfore – a patient engagement service, Nirmana – A construction company and Nidan – a micro-financing service.
Communication Design
Communication design has been close to my heart. I graduated with Master of Design degree from National Institute of Design’s faculty of Visual Communication. Amongst other subjects my main specialisations were in animation film design, videography, editing, sound design, visual design and branding. I have written articles, drawn comics and made illustrations for newspapers and magazines. I have remodelled Harold Lasswell’s model of linear communication to better adapt to the needs of business communication software design.
Digital Experience Design
As a designer at Tata Interactive Systems, Nokia, Microsoft and Basware, I have designed digital experiences that are being used globally. My background in visual design helps me to mock-up solutions quickly and test them with the users. I enjoy the challenges of disappearing boundaries between digital mediums. I have been involved with digital services & experience design, business design, interaction design, user interface design, visual design, R&D planning, wireframes, user research, usability, personas, user journeys, Lean UX, user stories, competitive analysis, accessibility, creative briefs, rapid prototyping, mobile app design, focus group testing, ethnographic studies (planning), haptics, game design, animation design, e-Learning and illustrations.
Coaching & Mentoring
Having led small and large teams in Tata, Nokia, Basware and Dream Broker, there have been several moments when the team needed clarity in direction to align with business goals and strategy. Designers in the team also need clarity in direction pertaining to personal career and growth. As a team coach and individual mentor I have helped dozens to stay engaged and focused. The outcome has been timely deliveries and streamlined design processes.
